A power fluctuation. A network hiccup. An unexpected system event in the middle of the night. Digital signage runs in all kinds of environments - and not all of them are perfect. That's exactly why we built Watchdog.
Meet Watchdog
Watchdog is a built-in guardian for your screen. It runs silently in the background, doing one simple thing: making sure your app is always alive and running.
Every 30 seconds, the app sends Watchdog a signal:
"I'm fine, still working."
If that signal doesn't arrive - Watchdog immediately restarts the app. No intervention needed. No support tickets. The screen recovers on its own.
Think of it like a security guard doing rounds every half hour. If he doesn't get a response - he doesn't wait. He acts. That's exactly how Watchdog works.
Four Layers of Protection
Watchdog isn't a single check - it's a system of four independent layers. If one doesn't catch the problem, the next one will.

2. Freeze detection | Detects when the screen stops responding | ~30 seconds |
3. Watchdog | Monitors the app process around the clock | ~1–2 minutes |
4. Backup check | A safety net that runs every 15 minutes | up to 15 minutes |
Even if the app crashes completely and Watchdog doesn't catch it right away - the backup check will find it and bring the screen back within 15 minutes at most.
What This Means for You
Screens recover on their own. Freezes and crashes are fixed automatically, without you lifting a finger.
Night shifts aren't a problem. Watchdog never sleeps. At 3 AM it's just as alert as at noon.
Fewer support requests. Most common issues are resolved before you even notice them.
Content stays on screen. Schedules don't break, playlists keep running, your audience keeps watching.
How Do I Turn It On?
You don't - it's already on.
Starting with version 2.2.98, Watchdog activates automatically every time the app launches. No setup required.
How to update the Liqvid app
You can check Watchdog's status anytime in the app's diagnostic menu. If needed - for example, during screen maintenance - it can be temporarily disabled from the same menu.
