How to add Playtomic widgets

Written by Max Peters

Playtomic widgets: live court boards for your club

Your club already runs on Playtomic. Now the same bookings can work for you on every TV in the club: which courts are free right now, which open matches still need a player, what is on today and when it is easiest to get a court.

You connect your Playtomic account once. After that the screens update themselves every few minutes, so nobody at reception has to type a schedule again.

Perfect for:

  • a big screen at reception that answers «Is there a free court?» before anyone asks

  • the lounge or bar, where players wait and can jump into an open match

  • the entrance of each court, so players see at a glance whether the court is theirs

  • padel, tennis and pickleball clubs that want fuller courts in the quiet hours

Six screens, one connection

Every screen comes in a horizontal and a vertical version. Pick the one that answers the question your players ask most in that spot:

What each screen shows

1. Court schedule — the whole day on one board

The full day of every court side by side, with a Now line that moves with the clock.

  • Free slots are green, and a court that is free at this moment is highlighted as Free now with the time it stays free

  • Busy slots show the time and the type of booking: lesson, course, league, tournament

  • open matches and open classes are blue and say how many spots are left, for example 1 spot left

  • each court shows its sport (padel, tennis, pickleball)

Why: one look tells players and staff where there is room today, without opening the app.

The vertical version comes in two layouts: all courts as rows, or one court per page with the screen sliding to the next court every few seconds.

2. Courts right now — the quick answer

One row per court with what is on it right now and its next free window.

  • Free now courts stand out in bright yellow, with the time they stay free

  • busy courts show what is going on (lesson, tournament, open match) and until when

  • the Next free column shows the next free slot for every court

  • if your club has more courts than fit on the screen, it flips through them in blocks

Why: the fastest answer to «Can I play now?» — perfect for players who walk in without a booking.

3. Join a game — fill the empty spots

Open matches, open classes and open play that are still to come today, each as a big card.

  • start time, end time, court and sport

  • a countdown badge for the next one, for example in 10 min

  • player dots and the number of free spots (1 spot left); full games are greyed out

  • a call to action and a QR code at the bottom: players scan it and join from their phone

Why: an open match with one missing player is a lost booking. This screen turns people waiting in the lounge into the fourth player.

4. Today at the club — the day's programme

Everything organised that is still to come today: lessons, courses, leagues, tournaments and open games, in time order.

  • what is running at this moment is marked Now

  • open games are blue and show their free spots

  • every line shows the court and the sport

  • the same call to action and QR code as on Join a game

Why: players see what is happening at the club today and can sign up from their phone.

5. Door sign — one court, at the court

A screen for the entrance of one court. You choose the court in the widget settings.

  • the court name and its sport, big enough to read from a distance

  • what the court is doing now: Free now, Busy, Lesson, League, Course, Tournament, Open match, Open class or Open play

  • until when, with a progress bar and the minutes left

  • the rest of the court's day in a Next list

Why: players find their court without asking, and the next group knows exactly when the court will be theirs.

6. Best time to play — spread the load

How many courts are free in each hour, from the hour before now until closing time.

  • the current hour is highlighted as Now

  • the headline names the best window, for example Most courts free 23:00–24:00

  • Free right now: 2 of 6 shows the situation this minute

  • when nothing is free any more, the screen says No free courts left today

Why: it nudges players towards quieter hours, so more of your court time gets booked.

How to add a Playtomic widget

Before you start, have your Playtomic API keys ready (see Where to find your Playtomic API keys below).

1. Go to Widgets

2. Find the Playtomic Screens widget and click Use Widget

3. Read what the six screens do and click Start

4. Choose the screen. Use the Template orientation and Screen type filters to narrow the list, then click the template you want and click Next

5. Connect your club. Enter your Client ID and Client secret, check the Club time zone (click Change to pick another one) and click Connect

  • if your keys belong to one club, that's it: the club is found automatically

  • if your keys cover several clubs, a Club list appears: choose your club and click Connect again

6. Make it yours. Enter your Club name, add your Logo and, if you like, your own colours. Click Update preview to see the result on the right, then click Next

  • Join a game and Today at the club: keep Show QR code on to invite players to join from their phone; leave QR code link empty and the QR code opens your club's page on Playtomic

  • Door sign: choose the court this screen stands next to

7. Check your screen and click Publish to send it to your screens, or Save to media to add it to a playlist later

Congratulations, your club's screens now show live data from Playtomic! 🎾

Where to find your Playtomic API keys

Liqvid connects to Playtomic with your club's own API keys. You create them in Playtomic, it takes a minute:

1. Open Playtomic Manager and go to Settings → Developer tools

2. Create API credentials and copy the Client ID and Client secret

3. Paste them into the Data source step of the widget

Tip: the Where to find these details panel next to the fields in Liqvid repeats these steps and links to Playtomic’s guide. If your club is not found from the keys, a Club ID field appears: ask Playtomic Customer Care for it.

Good to know

  • Updates: the screens refresh by themselves every few minutes. A booking made in Playtomic appears on the screens shortly after, not instantly.

  • Privacy: the screens never show player names, e-mails or phone numbers — only courts, times, types of booking and the number of free spots.

  • Languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese and Thai.

  • Opening hours: outside opening hours the screens say Closed. For clubs that close after midnight (for example 22:00–02:00) the screens show the day up to midnight.

  • One widget, one club: to show several clubs, create one widget per club.

  • Free courts are worked out from your Playtomic bookings, so keep your Playtomic calendar up to date and the screens stay right.

Tip: you can also add newly created content to a playlist after you've added the widget to your Liqvid account. To do this, go to Scheduling > click Add Playlist > select Add Media from your library > select the screens and click Publish.
